At the turn of the century, two enterprising brothers, Harry and Arthur Saunders, started a mill woodworking business in North Waterford, Maine making dowels from white and yellow birch. In 1916 after a fire destroyed the original mill, the Saunders Brothers moved to Westbrook, Maine. Currently, all our operations are under one roof in the village of Locke Mills in Greenwood, Maine.Our hardwood comes from sustainable forests and is traditionally manufactured with Maine craftsmanship.
